Have you been wanting to do the Ice Islands Quest, Helmet of the Ancients, Behemoth Quest, Banshee Quest, or the Banuta Quest? Once upon a time ... there was a Tibia fansite that was dedicated to humor and roleplaying, and humor in roleplaying. Its name was TibiaHumor and its famous quotes and articles were loved among many Tibians. One of their biggest realisations was the Weirdiary. Inspired by the bestiaries, which were common sight on most fansites, TibiaHumor decided to make one themselves ... just a bit "different". Sadly, the fansite was closed shortly after launching their work. Luckily, TibiaHumor's co-workers donated this impressive piece of work to a new fansite dedicated to roleplaying: TibiaRP.com. They took upon them the immense task of completing it with all the new creatures that were added to Tibia. And finally, it's done! Eu não conhecia o trabalho desse coreano, um menino de 19 aninhos, mas com a primeira imagem que eu vi, já me apaixonei. Cores, muitas cores ele utiliza. Suas ferramentas de trabalho são marcadores, canetas, lápis, acrílicos, materiais básicos onde ele consegue criar um ar marcante e único em suas ilustrações, misturando rostos humanos (principalmente de mulheres) com imagens abstratas e figuras geométricas. Conforme-se. É impossível agradar a gregos e troianos. Não há design que não será criticado e não há redesign que não vá ser esculachado. E eu vou explicar o porquê. Se você for um designer informado, já terá visto todo o auê que o novo logo da Gap (a maior varejista especializada dos EUA) criou, que fez com que o logo fosse revertido ao original. O mesmo acontece com o novo logo do MySpace, o redesign do site Digg e tantas outras situações. Os problemas com redesigns O problema dos redesigns de logos, sites ou identidades visuais de qualquer marca é também o maior aliado do designer: o branding. É difícil encontrar qualquer exemplo onde um redesign foi visto pelo público geral como algo benéfico à marca. Fácil é encontrar os exemplos onde novos logos foram escrachados pela mídia, outras empresas e designers famosos. Re-desenhados e odiados “Mas e o que o branding tem a ver com isso, Canha?“. É simples: como já expliquei no artigo sobre “O que é branding?“, branding é a imagem percebida que o consumidor tem sobre um produto, serviço, empresa ou até mesmo marca. Altere a marca, e toda a imagem percebida do consumidor desaparece. Seja ela boa, ou seja ela má, a percepção muda. E ninguém sente conforto em ter que re-analisar (mesmo que inconscientemente) o que aquela marca representa para si. Afinal de contas, o ser humano prefere se acomodar quanto a um assunto, ter uma opinião já definida e manter aquilo. Mude algo e você força ele a repensar tudo. As opiniões de designers Se existe algo que aprendi na faculdade foi “nunca peça a opinião de um colega designer“. Pode parecer besteira, mas é verdade. Basta colocar alguma imagem no Deviantart ou até mesmo no Forum de Design e pedir a opinião de outras pessoas. Talvez você tenha muitos elogios, mas você também terá críticas duras (construtivas ou não). Sempre existe um designer que chegaria a mesma solução de forma alternativa. Não digo que críticas são desnecessárias. Pelo contrário, as vezes pode ser de grande ajuda. No entanto, muitas vezes o crítico não está a par do briefing – e isto muda muita coisa. Como todos sabem, o briefing é o guia que nosso cliente nos dá sobre o que ele precisa ou quer feito. Uma mensagem pode ser transmitida de várias maneiras diferentes, mas sempre precisa ser algo que está acertado já no briefing (para evitar as refações). É raro ver algum designer dizer: “Hey, analisem meu trabalho (e levem em conta o briefing logo abaixo)“. Mesmo se o briefing estiver lá e os críticos entenderem-no, sempre haverá aquele designer que teria optado por outra solução. E, para quem está recebendo a crítica, isto pode ser frustrante pois indica que você não pensou em tudo e, dependendo de como a crítica estiver escrita, pode acabar com sua auto-estima. No final das contas, o que importa mesmo é a opinião do cliente (isto quando ele entende que sua solução não é baseada em fatores aleatórios). A única outra pessoa que permito que opine os meus trabalhos é a minha esposa – e mesmo assim, nunca consegui 100% da aprovação dela. Você nunca será bom o suficiente Mais uma vez, é impossível agradar a gregos e troianos. Não importa se o seu design é o mais incrível do mundo, ou que o novo logo daquela empresa seja um verdadeiro passo à frente para a imagem da marca, sempre haverá alguém que não acredite ser a melhor solução ou que ache que o novo logo destrói toda a percepção dela da marca. Nos olhos de outros companheiros da área, você talvez nunca seja o melhor – conforme-se com isto mas nunca desista. Por experiência própria, sei que basta apenas um “gostei” para ter valido a pena por ter feito qualquer coisa. Minha sugestão final é: por mais que você odeie algo que outro designer tenha feito, lembre-se sempre que há inúmeros fatores por trás da escolha final do cliente.
